MILLFIELD PLACE is still in the planning stage, but we have some great low carbon ideas that we are planning to implement into the build for energy efficiency. For people who don’t know too much about this important topic, it is using technology that requires less energy to perform the same function. For example an LED bulb requires less energy than an incandescent bulb and they produce the same amount of light to do the same job. Read below and get a better idea of what we are planning.
We had a meeting with our architects and have decided that the next phases of the development is going to be about further emission reduction and our route to low carbon. Adopting an efficient first approach is crucial to meeting carbon targets. So we are looking at what can be done at the design stage to achieve the biggest impact. Buildings are a significant culprit of carbon emissions – and are accountable for 35% of total global energy consumption. Our route to low carbon is Passivhaus. Our plan is for our buildings to use very little energy for heating and cooling. Some properties in Europe use up to 90% less energy. This can be obtained in various ways like making best use of sun and shade, quality Insulation and airtight construction.
More about us. Based in Hertfordshire, we work with a number of joint venture partners on some of our projects and enjoy close relationships with estate agents, surveyors and solicitors as well as architects and other consultants. Each member of the team shares the same ethos and commitment and brings exceptional skills and experience to the creation of every new development.
The next opportunity. At Meg Group we are always looking to purchase land and buildings with potential for redevelopment. We mainly build around Hertfordshire, London and Essex but some of our developments have been as far as Plymouth…so everything is considered. We welcome enquiries from anybody with sites ready for acquisition. Sites with or without buildings in place and with or without planning permission. Permitted Development and New Build are mainly what we are most interested in.
